Defender has been engineered so you can dream bigger. Push harder. Go above and beyond.
Uncover new territories. Tackle extreme conditions. Defender’s extraordinary all-terrain capabilities and permanent All Wheel Drive make it unstoppable. Both off and on-road.
CONFIGURABLE TERRAIN RESPONSE
Go explore. Your way. Individually personalise your off‑road system preferences through Configurable Terrain Response technology.
Supreme geometry strengthens the vehicle’s all-terrain capability. Its approach angle is 38 degrees1. This is coupled with a breakover angle of up to 31 degrees and a departure angle of 40 degrees1.
All Wheel Drive, a twin-speed transfer box, Electronic Active Differential and a larger tyre family make Defender our most capable Land Rover. Ever.
Designed to be best in its class, supreme geometry strengthens the vehicle’s all-terrain capability. Its approach angle is 38 degrees1. This is coupled with a breakover angle of up to 31 degrees and a departure angle of 40 degrees1.
As competent on-road as it is off. Enjoy refined comfort with independent front and rear suspension, and a choice of coil suspension, or Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics.
Never compromise. The dynamic carrying load allows for up to 168 kg2. And Defender's static load of 300 kg lets you make more of your adventure. So if you want to stay the night, the Rooftop Tent will let you do exactly that.
Defender’s ability to wade up to a depth of 900 mm makes water crossings possible.3 The Wade Program in Terrain Response raises the vehicle using Electronic Air Suspension. A 3D Surround Camera with Wade Sensing tells you just how deep the water is.
Respond to the toughest of demands with Defender’s 3 500 kg towing capacity. Advanced Tow Assist also allows you to reverse a trailer while Defender takes care of the counter steering.
Prepared for absolutely anything. A Defender that’s personalised to you.
ALL WHEEL DRIVE
When driving across low-traction surfaces such as ice and snow, torque can be balanced between the front and rear wheels, providing greater stability and control.
An additional set of lower gears can prove invaluable in challenging conditions such as steep inclines or declines, off-road driving or when towing.
ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION
Choose from an access height of 40 mm below normal ride height, to an extended height of up to 75 mm, with a further extended ride height up to an additional 70 mm in more extreme off-road conditions.
ELECTRONIC ACTIVE DIFFERENTIAL
This system offers the additional benefit of more traction on corners and more grip off-road. It does so by controlling the slip between the left and right wheels on the rear axle.
CONFIGURABLE TERRAIN RESPONSE
In a world-first for Terrain Response, individually configure the powertrain, steering, differentials and traction control settings to meet your off‑road needs.
Whatever environment you’re in, complete confidence and control is guaranteed. Features include Low Traction Launch, Gradient Release Control and Hill Descent Control.
Delivering a flat ride and optimum control by monitoring body and steering movements up to 500 times a second. This system reacts to driver and terrain inputs by offering continuously variable damper settings between soft and firm extremes.
ALL TERRAIN PROGRESS CONTROL
Set and maintain a steady speed in challenging off-road conditions. All Terrain Progress Control acts much like a low-speed cruise control and functions at speeds between 1.8km/h and 30km/h.
Defender offers the refined and fuel efficient Si4 Petrol engine.
PETROL PLUG-IN HYBRID
Coming late-2020, our P400e Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) engine will bring the benefits of electrification to Defender.
